Happy Spring!

Happy Spring, everyone! Spring is a time for new beginnings, so this is a good time to do something I have wanted to do for a long time.....start a blog. What makes us try something new? How do we reach the place in our lives where we overcome the fear of failure and just begin? I don't know the answer to that, but maybe it's similar to the arrival of Spring.

Spring arrives a little at a time. It begins with tiny sprigs we have to strain to notice. A hint of green, a hidden flower. Something starts to bloom and finishes. Something else begins its journey to a new year with blooms and buds. Plants get a fresh start with new beautiful flowers, new green leaves. Every year, plants begin again.

As gardeners, we get a garden do over. We take what we learned last year, what did well, what died, what was beautiful, what was ugly, and we get to try again. It's what we love about gardening. Not just getting our hands dirty, the feel and smell of freshly turned earth, but the satisfaction and enjoyment of growing things. The joy of creating beauty in our little piece of heaven, the backyard.

That satisfaction and enjoyment, the love of gardening, is what this blog is going to be about. I'll try to talk about what is blooming, how and what to mulch with, and about soil. Lots about soil, because soil is the key to good gardening results. I want to share a love for all things gardening that we want to pass on to the next generation. So whether you are a Master Gardener or don't know one thing about it yet, this blog is for you. Let's learn and grow together.
